Genesis 2:16-17
Father's Day 2020

Genesis 2:16-17

And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat, 17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat from it you will surely die.”

  • Allow your kids a Free Will

I Samuel 15:22

“Does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Obedience is better than sacrifice, a listening ear than the fat of rams.”

John 14:21

“He who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me.”

  • Allowing free will is a demonstration of love and also allows our children an opportunity to demonstrate their love through obedience.

Psalm 145:17

The Lord is righteous in all His ways and loving in all His works.

James 1:17

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom is no change or shadow of turning.

  • Everything that finds its source in God is good and we can be confident in His goodness even when we struggle.

  • Be Consistent

Matthew 28:20

And remember, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

John 3:16-17

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

  • Care about your kids more than you care about what they do
